Emerald Winter Defunct Until Further Notice

After a lot of thought, I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t run two webcomics of this size at the same time. Since Emerald Winter is kind of a jumble mess right now, it’s logical that I focus my efforts on Lavender Legend. I have come to accept the fact that I can’t salvage the work that I did before. No matter which direction I go in, it is still a project from ten years ago instead of a project I want to do right now.

You will see Rien, Gisela, and other characters again in the future in a new incarnation. I need to do heavy editing to the entire concept. I’m not sure if it will still be called “Emerald Winter” since that name has never made all that much sense, but we can keep it as a subtitle.

Anyway, as I don’t want to start a new ongoing project in the midst of Lavender Legend finally getting off the ground, it is on hold indefinitely. The comics will still be there if you go to the archives, but I don’t want to advertise to new readers, since I won’t be continuing the series for quite some time.

Thanks everyone whose given me their support.

I am finally getting back on my feet again. Financially, things have been a bit harsh since I got here, and that’s the main reason for the no updates thing. I’ve been applying all of my time to the work that I get paid to do. In specific, Filthy Figments and VampYou, amd to a lesser extent, Lavender Legend, LovexCore, and the line art that I do for Ship in a Bottle.

Another thing is, my boyfriend’s father is extremely ill, and has been in the hospital for weeks now, barely conscious. When stuff like this happens in my life, Emerald Winter is usually the first thing that suffers.

What I really want to do is get finished with this story arc that has been rolling around in different forms for about five years, and continue into a ore episodic format featuring Rien and Gisela’s fantasy adventures, which will be in color format. One issue a year is my goal, as it is with Lavender Legend. However, there’s a lot of work to do, and so many hours in the day. So I appreciate the continued support, and I’ll be trying to do my best to actually advance the story this time.

What’s Going On

Haven’t updated in so long, wanted to give you guys an idea of what was happening.

I am finished with the moving and the cons right now. I still have to finish up a few commissions, but that’ll be done with today.

The space that I’m living in now is incredibly small, plus there’s two people living here. It has been a real effort just to unpack everything these past two weeks. We still have so much that isn’t unpacked because there’s no room left. I have a space designed so that I can do some traditional artwork, which includes Emerald Winter pages, but it’s also the eating table and Mike’s computer table. So I’m kind of time-sharing my art space, it’s very frustrating. Not sure what I intend to do about it yet. I’ll probably pick up a folding table I can put aside when not in use.

Anyway. That’s pretty much why it’s been taking so long. I think I actually did ink the last page before I left and can’t even find it because things are so crazy. But, you know, artists have to live in the cheapest place possible. ^^; So it’s just something I have to adapt to.

I just wanted to post and let you guys know what kind of limbo I’m finding myself in right now. Once I get completely settled, I want to get Emerald Winter’s update schedule down solid.

Moving, Update Delay

Hi guys.

This is not like anything new for this comic unfortunately, but I am announcing that this comic will be on hold until after I move and can find a suitable work place. That may be a week or two, it could be a month. Depends on how hard it is to find an apartment once we get there.

Another Update!

Okay. I think I got the site under control for real this time. It isn’t pretty, but I’ll work on the cosmetics after I get everything set up right.

I want to thank Lorehunter from the chatbox for uploading all the old pages for me. I have never seen such a complete archive of the older version pages. I’m going to set up an external site to display these for the sake of history, but I don’t want to add them to this installation of Emerald Winter, in case people get confused about what’s canon and what’s not.

I lost these pages in their original format thanks to the “perfect storm” of bad luck I had around 2006 or 2007, I’m not sure which year. Anyway, I didn’t have access to the internet for several months because our cable company couldn’t get the line fixed (this was before wifi was everywhere). During that time, I also had a hard drive failure. The backup files I had got corrupted somehow over the years, to where a few aren’t readable. And during all that, the hosting company I was using went MIA. The site just poofed for a long time. I didn’t know who I could contact to get the domain back. When I finally did get to the registrar, they wanted to charge a $200 fee to renew the domain name. I didn’t have that kind of money. I’ve only gotten the name back recently.

Anyway, I’m glad somebody out there saved it so that I can at least point and say “there’s that comic I did in high school” haha.
